Summer Research Assistant, Macroeconomics

Macro · Washington, District of Columbia
Department Macro
Employment Type Full-Time
Minimum Experience Entry-level
Compensation $20.00 per hour

We’re seeking a highly motivated individual with deep intellectual curiosity and a passion for macroeconomics and public policy to join our team. This is an entry-level role at a growing firm where you will be a key contributor to the Macroeconomic Practice.

As a summer intern, you will be responsible for collaborating with staff at all levels, including senior leadership, to process and analyze data, track domestic and global policy and macroeconomic developments, and conduct research into topics of interest to Keybridge’s clients. We’ve found that successful candidates are able to work simultaneously and independently across multiple subject-matter areas, quickly learning new topics or methods as needed.

You will work on a range of projects, both assisting the macro team with day-to-day client-related tasks and pursuing an independent research project that you will help to scope and execute. This experience will give you a front row seat to understanding how Keybridge helps its clients anticipate, react, and take advantage of economic and policy trends that impact their business, industry, and operating environment.

It is currently expected that the Summer Research Assistant will work remotely, though there may be an opportunity for on-site work in Washington, DC as conditions evolve.

Your responsibilities are likely to include the following tasks:

  • Assisting the macro team with daily tasks, including staying up to date on the latest macroeconomic indicators and public policy developments.
  • Collecting, organizing, and analyzing publicly available data pertaining to ~200 large U.S.-based companies.
  • Assisting the macro team with research, data analysis, and/or report drafting to support weekly, monthly, and quarterly client deliverables, including data products and dashboards, economic outlooks, and/or client presentations delivered by firm leadership.
  • Conducting quantitative and qualitative research to generate insights on a macroeconomic research topic of mutual interest to you and Keybridge’s macro team leadership. This research will culminate in a memo, article, client note, or other written product, with the intention of being delivered to one or more Keybridge clients.

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • Pursuing or completed a degree in economics, public policy, business, data analytics, or related field
  • Passion for economics, public policy, and the application of analytical tools to policy challenges
  • Experience conducting quantitative and qualitative data analysis
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Naturally curious personality with a drive to understand complex issues
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to operate collaboratively within a team environment while also moving work forward independently as needed
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes in team and client needs
  • Collegial attitude, positive outlook, and a good sense of humor
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Tableau and / or statistical software (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS) is a plus.

Your compensation will be a wage of $20.00 per hour, payable monthly. The period of performance is 10–12 weeks.
